Finally, here comes the approval of the upcoming Nexus devices launching this year code-named Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish as the FCC has just approved both the devices for US. The FCC listing has also confirmed that both the devices will be HTC made and will out of the box run on the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The HTC Nexus models are G-2PW2100 and G-2PW4100 and a letter inside the FCC documents for both confirms that these as the Nexus devices. The model numbers starts with “G” with Google style font hinting towards Google’s Nexus. Checkout the below two letters from FCC approval documents clearly pointing towards Nexus support pages and thus confirming that these are the upcoming HTC Nexus devices without any doubt.
The HTC G-2PW2100 model number will be the Nexus 5P or Nexus 5X successor code-named Sailfish and the HTC G-2PW4100 model number might be the Nexus 6P successor code-named Marlin. The FCC documents doesn’t have any images or full specifications listed but it lists that these devices will have 4G LTE, WiFI 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth LE and NFC connectivity features. The Nexus Sailfish was recently spotted in a leaked image shared by a Twitter user. The Nexus Sailfish (S1) was spotted at GFXBench with features such as a 5-inch full-HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and will be powered by a quad-core 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 ([email protected] + [email protected] – ARMv8) processor that also comes with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box.
It comes with 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage options and camera features includes a 12-megapixel LED flash rear camera and an 8-megapixel front facing camera as well. Other features includes NFC, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and couple of sensors as well. No other details are listed in the GFXBench listing of the device.
The AnTuTu listing of Nexus Sailfish lists the device with a full HD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution (confirmed to be a 5-incher). It is powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It runs on the Android Nougat 7.0 OS out of the box.
It features a 13-megapixel rear LED flash camera and an 8-megapixel front facing camera as well. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage capacity. No other details about the device are listed in the AnTuTu listing.
The Nexus Marlin was spotted previously at Geekbench running the Android N and other top-end specifications. The HTC Nexus Marlin is rumored to have a 5.5-inch qHD AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution and will be powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that might be the 820. It will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB /128GB inbuilt storage options.
It will run on the Android (7.0) Nougat OS out of the box. It will feature a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front facing camera. It gets powered by a 3450mAh battery and connectivity options includes Bluetooth 4.2 and USB-C port. It will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and bottom-firing speakers.
