We have heard the rumor that Xiaomi will hold a news conference on August 25 where two new smartphones in the Redmi series are expected to be released. While we are yet to see official invitations to the said news conference, two devices suspected to be the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 have been spotted on China’s Telecom Regulatory agency TENAA’s website. Unfortunately no images were attached to the listing, so we only had the listed specs to determine that the devices are likely the Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4.
These two device comes with model numbers 2016060 and 2016050 at TENAA with no image available. This TENAA listing just comes in time to lend some credence to the rumor of a August 25 release date for the duo. In addition, the on screen specs listing of what is likely the Redmi Note 4 whose images were leaked earlier on, just as we reported, matched those listed on TENAA.
According to the TENAA listing the one suspected to be Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 5-inch display with 1080 resolution and would be powered by a 1.8GHz processor which is suspected to be the MediaTek Helio P10 chipset. The device is also listed as having 3GB RAM and 32GB of built-in storage . There’s also a 13MP rear camera sensor and a 5MP front camera. The suspected Redmi 4 is also listed to boot Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and will have a huge 4,000mAh under its hood. Quite curiously, the device is also listed to feature infrared transmission.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is listed as having a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1080p. The smartphone also said to be powered by a 2GHz processor which is suspected to be the Helio X20 chipset as against the Snapdragon 652 processor earlier rumored to be on the device. The Redmi Note 4 is listed as having two versions, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage and a higher version with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
