Samsung has recently launched the September security update to its flagship device including Galaxy S6 series, S7 series, Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge, Samsung Galaxy A8, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and a number of other devices in different regions of the world. This time the company has started rolling the September Android security update to the almost 3 years old Galaxy S5. In August, Samsung rolls out the August security update to the Galaxy S5 and now this update confirms that Samsung will provide regular updates to the Galaxy S5 in future also and may be Nougat as well.
The September Android security update is now rolling out to the Galaxy S5 units in India carrying the model number SM-G900I and the update weights 45MB in size and you need to be on a WiFi network to download this update and update your phone. This update not also comes with the September security patch but also comes with improved stability. In addition, this update also bumps the device firmware version to DDU1CPI1.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900I was first available in Australia in the year 2014 and then in India. It comes with a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution and is powered by the 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC with Adreno 330 GPU. It runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box and features a 16MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI and Ultra HD video recording and also has a 2.1MP front-facing camera.
It also comes with IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Galaxy S5 has 2GB of RAM with 16GB internal storage that is expandable up to 64GB with microSD card. It is having some added features like S Health 3.0 and Heart rate sensor. There is 2800mAh Battery and connectivity options available are 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2X2 MIMO), Bluetooth v4.0 LE, GPS, USB 3.0 and NFC.
