Samsung recently started rolling the October Android security update to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge units in the European countries and now this security update has started hitting the Galaxy S7 Edge units in India as well. The update weights 21.50 MB in India and also comes with some stability improvements, bug fixes, new and/or enhanced features and performance improvements.
The update also bumps the firmware version to XXU1BPJ7 in India where it was XXS1BPJ1 for the European units. The update is hitting the Galaxy S7 Edge units with model number SM-G935FD which is the dual SIM variant of the Galaxy S7 Edge. As the Galaxy S7 Edge is getting the security update, the Galaxy S7 units may also be getting the update in India. The Galaxy S7 Edge was launched in India in March this year along with Galaxy S7. It comes with a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and is powered by Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 8890 SoC.
The Galaxy S7 Edge has 4GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage capacity with up to 256GB expandable MicroSD card storage with the help of Hybrid Dual SIM. It features a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, smart OIS and a 5-megapixel front camera with f/1.7 aperture. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and comes with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It is backed up by a 3600mAh battery.
