Xiaomi today not only announced the Redmi 4 smartphone, but also launched a low-end variant of the Redmi 4 called Xiaomi Redmi 4A that also comes with decent specs and looks. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A is priced at 499 yuan (around $74) and will be available for sale starting November 11th in China. There is no information available of its global roll-out as of now. Color options includes Gold and Rose Gold.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display with1280 x 720 pixels resolution and is powered by a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 processor with 500MHz Adreno 308 GPU. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB with microSD card. It also runs on the MIUI 8 that is based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS out of the box and also supports Hybrid Dual SIM.
It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. It is backed up by a 3120mAh in-built battery and comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, GLONASS connectivity options. It measures 139.5×70.4×8.5mm and weights 131.5g and there is no fingerprint scanner available.
