Motorola yesterday launched its new device Motorola Moto M in China which is the newest addition to the Moto branded smartphones lineup from Lenovo. A new report now claims that all the the future Lenovo phones will be launched under the ‘Moto’ brand, so there won’t be any more Lenovo branded phones in the market. Still we don’t know if the company will launch any phones under the sub brands that includes ‘Phab’, ‘Vibe’ and other sub brands.
The company has also changed the leadership roles of smartphone business in China where Xudong Chen is now given the position of co-president and SVP of the Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group (MBG) in China and will be succeeded by Gina Qiao, formerly SVP of human resources lenovo mobiles.
The company also said that the sales of the Moto-branded and Lenovo-branded mobile devices for the second fiscal quarter 2016 were US$2 billion which is down to 12 percent year-over-year. Still the company is seeing 20% growth quarter-to-quarter in the mobile business with the PCs as the core of the business for the company generating 70% of the revenue every year.
