Motorola has started rolling the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to the Moto X Play devices in India and Canada. The update not only comes with the Marshmallow build but also comes with Google’s monthly security update as well. This update also comes with the Unicode 8.0 emoji support and camera shutter tone switch for the Moto X Play devices. The update is of 388 MB in size and may differ in both the countries. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was already seeded to the Moto X Play devices in January by the company.
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Moto X Play comes with added features and Marshmallow goodies. The key features of the Marshmallow update includes Now on Tap, Doze feature, battery optimizations, app standby, Do not disturb, new app permissions, Moto Assist and Motorola Alert. you can manually check you device software by going to Settings > About phone > System updates and update your device to new Marshmallow OS. Make sure your device is working properly after the update, as some users are reporting some errors after the upgrade like no command recovery error and other errors.
Moto X Play comes with handy features like a 5.5-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 ( 4 x 1.1 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.7 GHz Cortex A53) 64-bit processor with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM with 16GB /32GB internal storage options with expandable storage up to 128GB with microSD card.
It was launched with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box and supports Dual SIM. it features a 21MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording and a 5MP front-facing camera. It has a good 3630mAh battery and measures 148 x 75 x 8.9-10.9mm with weight 169 grams. It comes wit connectivity options like 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11a/g/b/n (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
Motorola has already rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its Moto G (3rd Gen), Moto G Turbo Edition and Moto E (2nd Gen) devices and the Moto X Style and Moto X 2nd Gen received the Marshmallow update in November last year. Later this month the update was rolled out to the Moto G 2nd Gen devices too in the US and the update was also rolled out to the Droid Turbo 2 devices as well.
