Samsung is expected to announce its new flagship next year known as the Galaxy S8 that will feature upgraded features from the Galaxy S7 smartphone. The success and sales of the upcoming Galaxy S8 will really matter to the Korean giant because of the recent Galaxy Note 7 saga. A new report has now confirmed that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy flagship will feature a all-screen design with less bezels. The report further says that the company will scrap the physical home button of the new flagship.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the new Galaxy S8 flagship will feature a virtual home button buried in the glass replacing the old physical home button along with the all-screen wraparound OLED display. The report further says that Samsung might delay the launch of the Galaxy S8 to April from March to provide a true flagship to the fans. Samsung is adopting tougher testing procedures because of the Note 7 debacle and hence could push back the launch of the Galaxy by a month.
“Since the phones have a record of burning up, it needs time for these phones to be verified as safe. How safe the phones turn out to be is more important than any hardware innovation, It will take about a month or two for people to actually start opening their pockets,” said Greg Roh, an analyst at HMC Investment Securities Co.
An example of all-screen display is the recently launched Mi Mix smartphone from Xiaomi that comes with a bezel-less design and a borderless display. It comes with very thin bezels on the top and sides making it look completely borderless. The Chinese company also priced it at just 3499 yuan (around $516) for the 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage option and the 6GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage is priced at 3999 yuan (around $590).
