Google’s New Android 5.0 Lollipop OS Launched

Yesterday, Google unveiled the new Android 5.0 Lollipop which was previously rumored to be with name Android L. Google also launched its new Nexus devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop called Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablet with a Nexus Player.

Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with several new features including Material Design that has bold, colorful, and responsive UI design for consistent, intuitive experiences across all your devices. It has a Responsive, natural motion, realistic lighting and shadows, and familiar visual elements make it easier to navigate your device. Android Lollipop comes with vivid new colors, typography, and edge-to-edge imagery help to focus your attention.

Android 5.0 Lollipop now has improved Notifications system that now has “Do not disturb” feature. Now you can view and respond to messages directly from your lock screen and the new Android gives you the ability to hide sensitive content for these notifications. Priority mode can be activated via volume button for limited notifications. Now you can watch movies or videos and play games without any incoming calls interruption.

New Battery features have been introduced in new Android Lollipop. It comes with a new Battery saver mode which extends device use by up to 90 mins. You will be notified of the estimated time left for battery charge when you plugin the charger to your phone.

New Security settings are introduced including encryption automatically turned on, SELinux, Android Smart Lock. Device Sharing is now easy with multiple user for single phone and if you forgot your phone you can call any of your friends by simply logging into another Android phone running Lollipop.

Other new features available in the new Android 5.0 Lollipop will be New BLE peripheral mode, Improved network selection, Improved network handoffs, ART, Compacting backgrounded apps and services, Support for 64 bit devices, Pure Java language apps, Multi-channel audio stream mixing, USB Audio support, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Android extension pack, OK Google, Android TV, 68+ languages support and many more.
