According to reports online, Motorola have started rolling the brand new software update Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Moto G (2nd Generation) device. Motorola have also confirmed this on their website here.
The unlocked version of Moto G (2nd Generation) have started receiving the new update in the US from today. The Moto G (2nd Gen) is the first device to get the update ahead from other Google owned devices such as Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.
Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Moto G (2nd Generation) brings new features and enhancements. Android Lollipop comes with brand new look that the Android 4 Kitkat OS. It includes fluid animations, application and system themes, colors and widgets etc.
The notifications system has improved and will appear on the lock screen and are intelligently ranked by type and who sent them. The New Interruptions & Downtime Settings is another addition where you can choose how interruptions behave, choosing to allow all, none, or only priority interruptions.
Multi-tasking or recent apps is redesigned where you can switch amongst tasks easily. Ambient Display feature will show notifications without turning on the full display While your phone’s display is off. Flashlight options is added in the settings area of your phone. Battery settings panel now shows an estimated projection for how much time you have left while discharging or charging.
Lollipop Android will also bring new security updates for your Moto G (2nd Generation) device. Encryption can now use a stronger 256-bit key to help protect the data.
Google recommends to update your phone with 50% battery and on Wi-Fi network. If you have received the notification for the update then select “Yes, I’m in” option and then click install now. Your phone will then be update to the new Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware version 22.11.6.
