Matt Cutts announced on twitter yesterday that Google Penguin 2.1 Update has been released and it will affect 1% of the search results. Here is what he announced on Twitter:
But in this tweet the link given by Matt Cutts is a link to the article when Penguin was first released by google.
This penguin update is a new improved version of Penguin 2.0 update and it will affect 1 percent of total searches means its a minor update to Penguin 2.0.
So now the question is how to remain safe from this penguin 2.1 update?
For the info to webmasters, Penguin algorithm is spam fighting algorithm who will fight against paid links sites, means the webmasters who have bought links to their sites will see less traffic and decreased rankings of their site’s keywords.
You will see a traffic drop if you are hit by penguin 2.1 update and to recover from this update you need to disavow bad links or you have to contact the webmasters to remove bad links to your site. If you have already performed the required methods to remove bad links then you will see an increase in traffic and better rankings.
UPDATE: So finally webmasters are now complaining that their websites are hit by penguin 2.1 and their site’s traffic is decreasing. So this penguin update is also looking dangerous for SE rankings.
Keep an eye on a thread that has been posted on Webmaster forum about this penguin 2.1 update where the user JR18 has complained: My site got hit by Penguin 2.1 update, what to do now?
