Recently, we saw that Motorola started seeding Android 5.1 Lollipop update to Moto X 2013, but now Moto X 2nd Gen is also receiving the Android 5.1 update. 2nd Gen Moto X was launched last year and was previously running Android 5.0 lollipop.
The release notes for this update are available on Motorola website. Android 5.1 brings new features and improvements. This new update brings stability and provides better control over notifications and brings usability improvements, heads-up notifications, quick settings, turn flashlight on or off with two chopping motions, security features, Improvements in the Android Runtime etc.
This update also includes bug fixes such as clock issue where clock in the status bar isn’t updating and alarms are not going off, deletion of SMS messages when the SIM card is full, no ringer audio while making an outgoing call, calculator bugs, Chrome crash, device restart while using Netflix, Wifi bugs, Bluetooth bugs and other general stability improvements.
Users can update their phone after receiving the OTA notification message or by going to settings of their phone. Motorola wrote,”We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto X (2nd Gen.) by Motorola. This update brings Android™ 5.1 Lollipop to your phone along with other improvements.”
