As we recently shared that Motorola has started Android 5.1 soak tests for Moto X 2014 or 2nd Generation Moto X including Moto G 4G in US, now good news is that Motorola has started rolling the Android 5.1 to Verizon Moto X 2nd Gen.
David Schuster, Senior Director SW Product Management Motorola posted on his Google plus profile 2 days back and now Verizon Moto X 2nd Gen users are receiving it. Moto G 4G users, however, has not started getting this update which we can expect to start soon.
Many users has started getting this update today and remaining will get it in a week or so. Verizon has also officially announced about this update on their site. This update brings new features and new material design that offers complex animations and 3-D views, 64-bit ABI support and improved runtime.
Another factory reset protection feature has been added in this new update. Factory reset protection helps lost or stolen devices remain unlocked until the user won’t sign in to his Google account even if reset to factory settings.
Other new functions includes UI improvements where volume settings panel icons are added to match icons in status bar, new interruption controls where missed alarms are managed and can be rescheduled, notification volume control access where you can change notification volume while media is playing by selecting new
bell icon that will show notification volume controls and other improvements are included in this update.
