ZTE Launches AXON Mini With Force-Touch Display and Axon Watch

Yesterday, we saw ZTE teasing a new flagship device with Force-touch (Pressure-Sensitive) Display used already by iPhone and Huawei devices. But, ZTE was first to announce the Force-touch display. Today, at an event in Shenzhen China, ZTE announced its AXON flagship device series and talked about its flagship device strategy for the first time. In the event, ZTE confirmed the global availability of the AXON mini smartphone along with NBA variant and the AXON Watch for China. ZTE announces the AXON flagship device product line-up that includes AXON, AXON mini, AXON MAX and the AXON Watch.

ZTE AXON mini will be available in China for 2299 CNY in Ion Gold and Chromium Silver color variants and the Rose Gold variant will be available for 2399 CNY. In Asia-Pacific, its price will be $379 for Ion Gold and Chromium Silver color variants and $399 for Rose Gold Variant. In Europe it will cost 329 Euros for Ion Gold and Chromium Silver variants and 349 Euros for the Rose Gold variant.

ZTE also launched an NBA variant of Axon Mini that is called as the AXON mini (Premium Edition). The premium edition will be available for 2699 CNY in China, $439 in Asia-Pacific and for 389 Euros in the Europe.

First of all, ZTE announced the ZTE AXON mini smartphone that comes with pressure-sensitive display that is able to recognize different levels of touch pressure for enhanced functions and experience such as interactive gaming, passwords and more. It will be available in Dual SIM and runs on Android 5.1 based MiFavor3.2 OS.

ZTE AXON mini comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED FHD 2.5D curved-edge display. The phone’s body is made from Boeing 787 aircraft-grade aluminum-titanium alloy that gives the phone a premium look and feel.

ZTE AXON mini is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor and Adreno 405 GPU with 3GB RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage with support for up to 128GB SD card expansion. It sports a 13 megapixel rear camerar that comes with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) offering a focus time of just 0.1 seconds. An 8 megapixel camera with a 5P aspherical lens is available on front.

AXON mini comes with dual microphones that are supported by an AKM4961 Hi-Fi audio chipset delivering 32 bit high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) audio playback and high quality sound recording. AXON mini comes with three different biometric authentication options including fingerprint, voice control and eye-scan.

ZTE Axon MAX is launched with a bigger screen and long battery life. But still the exact specifications are unknown for the Axon Mini.

ZTE AXON Watch, which was unveiled in July 2015, launched with a 1.4-inch Gorilla Glass display with sapphire coating and IP67 certification. It has a 300 mAh battery, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB inbuilt storage and Bluetooth 4.1. It runs on Tencent OS and supports both voice and gesture controls. It will be available in China from ZTE’s MyZTE store from 27 October.
