Motorola has started rolling the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the 2nd gen Moto G devices in the US. Several users has started reporting on Reddit that they are getting the update on their Moto G second gen. After installing the update, the device gets updated to version number 24.41.34 and this update comes with several new features and enhancements. Your Moto G device gets several Marshmallow goodies as well. The key features of the Marshmallow update includes Now on Tap, Doze feature, battery optimizations, app standby, Do not disturb, new app permissions, Moto Assist and Motorola Alert.

Moto G (2nd Gen.) was launched in 2014 with features like a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixel) display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) processor with 1GB of RAM and the Adreno 305 GPU. It comes with 8GB and 16GB inbuilt storage variants with microSD card slot for expandable storage capacity. It was launched with Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

It features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The device comes with dual front speakers and it comes with a 2070mAh battery. Connectivity options includes 3G, Wi-Fi 80211.ac, Bluetooth 4.0LE, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm audio jack. It measures 141.5×70.7×10.99mm and weighs 149 grams.

If you haven’t received the update alert yet on your Moto G 2nd Gen, you can manually check you device software by going to Settings > About phone > System updates and update your device to new Marshmallow OS. Make sure your device is working properly after the update, as some users are reporting some errors after the upgrade like no command recovery error and other errors.
