Xiaomi is now teasing the Xiaomi Redmi 3 smartphone on their Weibo account with the launch date January 12. The device will be the successor of the Redmi 2 launched last year that comes with a 2200mAh battery but the teasers of Xiaomi confirms that the new Xiaomi Redmi 3 will have a massive 4100 mAh battery which is almost double from the Redmi 2 battery. IT will have a Snapdragon 616 processor under the hood as per the leaks from China.
The Redmi 3 will have a metal unibody chassis with a 5-inch 720p display. It will have 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of inbuilt storage capacity. The device will be powered by either the 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor and Adreno 405 GPU or the Helio P10 processor. It will feature a 13-megapixel rear camera with 5-megapixel front facing camera. Th battery will be 4100 mAh as we discussed earlier and it will run on Android 5 lollipop OS based MIUI out of the box.
To recall the Xiaomi Redmi 2 was launch with a 4.7-inch IPS display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and was powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor (Cortex A53) paired with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. It features an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapxiel front-facing camera with 8GB of inbuilt storage with up to 32GB expandable storage. It has a 2200mAh battery with weight 133 grams.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 has already got the TENAA approval last month. It was listed on TENAA with a 5-inch TFT display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and was powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz processor paired with 2GB of RAM. It features a a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and measures 139.3×69.6×8.5mm and weighs 143 grams.
