BlackBerry Priv India Launch On January 28

Canadian smartphone giant, Blackberry, has started sending the invites to the customers in India for the company’s first Android smartphone Blackberry Priv that will be launched on January 28 in India. The pricing details of the handset are not known yet. Priv was launched in October last year as the first Android powered Blackberry phone. The device was also spotted imported to India for testing purposes via Indian import/export Zauba website. This is now a good news for the customers in India that are willing to buy one Blackberry phone with Android.

Blackberry Priv comes with 5.43-inch Quad HD AMOLED dual-curved display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It comes with 4-row BlackBerry slider keyboard available below the large 5.43-inch display. It is powered by a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 ( 4x 1.44GHz ARM A53 + 2 x 1.8 GHz ARM A57 ) processor with 600 MHz Adreno 418 GPU.

It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity that is further expandable up to 2TB with the help of microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out of the box. Priv features an 18-megapixel rear camera with features like dual-tone Flash, OIS, PDAF, f/2.2 6P lens, 4K video recording and 6DOF video stabilization. It also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.8 aperture. It has a 3,410 mAh battery that can give up to 22.5 hours of battery life with mixed usage and also comes with fast charging feature.

Connectivity options available are 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, NFC, USB 2.0 with Slimport, 3.5mm audio jack, Front-facing speaker and 3 microphones. It measures 147 x 77.2 x 9.4mm and weights 192gms. The device comes with Black color option. So let’s wait for Thursday when Blackberry will launch the Priv in the official event in New Delhi where we will also get the pricing details of the phone and its availability details in India.

Priv was spotted imported to India in October last year with the price of INR 50,635, but the price may be something else or may be around 50k for Indian market. The Indian import/export data website Zauba listed the Priv as Android Blackberry smartphone in its database. There were 4 units of Blackberry Priv imported to India on 14th of October with each unit priced at INR 50,635 (around $780) which looks cheaper from the UK price by nearly 8k-9k Rupees. So, we may expect a price range above 50k for this phone.
