Samsung is long rumored to launch the new flagships in the Galaxy S series called the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Plus, Galaxy S7 Edge Plus and Galaxy S7 Edge in its February 21 event at MWC 2016. But according to leakster Evan Blass, the Korean Giant will launch the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge only in this event. An image from both the devices is also posted by Evan in his Twitter post. He also posted that both the devices will feature microSD expandable storage, water resistance feature and larger batteries.
The leaked renders posted Evan also confirms that the Galaxy S7 will not look similar to the Galaxy S6 as the new Galaxy S7 comes with a different home button than the Galaxy S6 home button. The images confirms the Gold and black color options and the both devices lock screen is showing the February 21st date which is the company’s event date in the MWC 2016. One more thing that is confirmed with the leaked images is the screen sizes of both devices. The Galaxy S7 Edge (on right) looks bigger than the Galaxy S7 confirming the rumored screen sizes 5.5-inch and 5.1-inch respectively.
Evan Blass also posted that the battery size will also be increased for both the devices with Galaxy S7 to have 3000mAh battery and Galaxy S7 edge having a 3600mAh battery with a bump from 2550mAh and 2600mAh batteries found in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The devices are expected to comes in two storage variants 32GB or 64GB and will have 4GB of RAM. The rumors have also said that the North American Galaxy S7 will feature the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC and the other markets will feature the Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor.
The Galaxy S7 Edge has already made its appearance on the AnTuTu and Geekbench databases confirming most of the specs. The recent GeekBench listing has confirmed that the Galaxy S7 Edge will have the model number SM-G935F and is powered by the Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor. It runs on 4GB of RAM and its runs on the Android 6.0.1 OS pre-installed. No other details were listed, however, in the Geekbench test of the device.
The AnTuTu listing of the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with model name SM-G935A and confirms that the Galaxy S7 Edge will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity and it runs on runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box. The device features a 5.1-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera.
Samsung is also preparing to launch its rumored 12-inch Windows tablet with model number SM-W700 that got the FCC approval couple of days ago. Now we have to wait for the Samsung official event to see the launch of the above devices in real.
