The Sony latest flagships Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are now available for purchase in the United States as announced by the company few days back. Both the devices were launched at IFA event in Berlin in September last year and were not available in the US till now. Sony Xperia Z5 is priced at $599.99 and the Xperia Z5 Compact is priced at $499.99 in the US. Both the device will be available via the online retailers Amazon, Best Buy, B&H and other online retailers as well.
Both the devices doesn’t have the fingerprint scanner in the home button and will be sold unlocked online. “Building a stable business in the U.S. market continues to be an important area of focus in helping Sony Mobile pursue profit by optimizing business scale. We are excited about the introduction of Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact unlocked in the U.S., particularly as we see a growing trend in the unlocked market.” Said, Kunihiko Shiomi, President Sony Mobile Communications, North America.
The Sony Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2-inch Triluminos Display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB internal storage that is further expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. It runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box and is expected to get the Marshmallow in the coming days as well.
It features a 23-megapixel rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 sensor, G lens and 4K video recording features. A 5-megapixel front-facing camera with Exmor R sensor and 25mm wide-angle lens is also available. It is backed up by a 2900mAh Battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support. The device is IPX5 / IPX8 certified for dust and water resistance. Connectivity options includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ GLONASS, MHL 3.0 and NFC. It measures 146 x 72 x 7.3 mm and weights 154 grams.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, on the other hand, comes with a 4.6-inch Triluminos display with X-Reality for mobiles and 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It is powered by the same octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU and 2GB of RAM. There is 32GB internal storage available with expandable storage up to 200GB via microSD card. It also runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box.
It features the same 23-megapixel rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 sensor, G lens and 4K video recording features with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with Exmor R sensor and 25mm wide-angle lens. It has a comparatively smaller 2700mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 feature as well.
