In an official statement today, Samsung announced the global rollout plans of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its flagship devices Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge first. The global rollout of Marshmallow will start today for both flagships followed by other Samsung Galaxy devices. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta update was available recently for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users in the UK and the update was rolled out to the Korean flagships last month already.
The new Galaxy Android 6.0 marshmallow update comes with cool features and additions like enhanced edge screen and new edge screen features for the S6 edge. Users can now enhance the edge panel with an option to widen it to an impressive 550 pixels enabling more content to be displayed on screen. People edge and Apps edge panels are introduced along with nine other panels. People edge lets users arrange their favorite contacts in a single easy-to-access area.
Apps edge panel is also updated in this new Marshmallow update that lists most frequently used apps. Users can now add ten apps instead of five with the help of Apps edge panel. The new Tasks edge panel provides shortcuts to often used app features and tasks, like creating an event in S Planner, setting an alarm or composing a text message. Quick tools feature is added which includes a ruler, compass and customizable flashlight.
The users can now access all the panels more easily by customizing the Edge handle which is the fixed tab that opens the edge panel. This new update comes with pre-installed Yahoo apps like Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Sports and Yahoo! News. Naver Shopping and Naver V apps are also pre-installed in this update.
So, with this official update, we can expect this update will be available soon for other Galaxy devices as well and Samsung has already announced this in the official statement. So Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 5 will be the next ones to get this update. We have to wait now for more update announcements from Samsung in the future.
