Gionee has started teasing a new flip phone on their weibo account for its March 29 event and the flip phone that the company is expected to launch will surely be the Gionee W909 clamshell device that was spotted on TENAA database with dual displays along with another flip phone Philips V800 that also comes with a dual display. The new teaser posted by Gionee clearly hints the launch of the Gionee W909 flip phone adn we may expect some other announcements as well in this event from the company. It will be the first clamshell device from Gionee with a fingerprint scanner placed on rear side.
The teaser image posted by Gionee comes with a flip phone device with golden edges and the teaser has a black background. The chienese text is translated as,” ## Highest profile flip phone between the opening and closing side was calm. March 29, Beijing see! @ Yu Lei”. The price of the device is expected to be around CNY 4,000 (around $615) and will be available in China first. There is no news if it will be available outside China. For your info, Samsung has also launched a clamshell device called Samsung W2016 in November last year.
The Gionee W909 was spotted on TENAA with a 4.2-inches TFT Dual (internal/external) display with 1280 × 720 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core processor that is rumored to be the MediaTek’s Helio P10 MT6755 processor. RAM capacity will be 2GB and it has 32GB of inbuilt storage with 128GB expandable microSD storage slot. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box.
It features an 8-megapixel or a 16-megapixel rear LED flash camera with a front facing camera of 5-megapixel. This device also features a fingerprint scanner on its back. It comes with Bluetooth, USB, 4G LTE and GPS. It measures 124.6 × 62.5 × 16.4mm and weights 210 grams. The Gionee W909 comes with Golden color option as per the TENAA listing.
