Sasmung has not only launched the phablet Galaxy J Max in India, it also launched the rumored 2016 variant of the Galaxy J2 called the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016). It will be available in India at Rs. 9,750 (around $145) and will be available for sale starting from July 14 in India via online and offline retailers. It will be available in in Black, Gold, and Silver colour options. Just like the Galaxy J Max, the Galaxy J2 2016 customers can also avail the 6 months of free double data offer on Airtel prepaid worth Rs. 4500.
The main highlights of the Galaxy J2 (2016) includes the rumored Smart Glow feature that is the next-generation LED notification system. Users can enable this feature via Quick panel and use it for alerts, usage alerts and Selfie Assist. Users can set up to four alerts for any app or contact and whenever there is a call from a particular contact or a notification from a particular app, this smart glow LED will glow in the color the users have set in the settings. The Smart Glow feature is also helpful in showing alerts on battery, data and storage.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor with Mali-400MP2 GPU. It comes with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage that is further expandable up to 32GB with microSD card option. It runs on the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS out of the box instead of the Android 5.1 used by J Max. It also supports Dual SIM option.
It features an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera having a f/2.2 aperture. It is backed up by a 2600mAh battery and supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and FM radio support. It measures 142.4 X 71.1 X 8.0 mm. It also comes with the Ultra data saving (UDS) mode with Opera Max and S bike mode.
