Japanese electronics manufacturer Kyocera launched the budget Hydro Shore smartphone in the US. The Kyocera Hydro Shore is the latest entrant to the expansive Kyocera Hydro series.
The Hydro Shore isn’t an headline popping smartphone, considering the budget-device specs it packs but the device adorns the spotlight in one aspect, which is that it comes certified for IP57 meaning it has a waterproof design that offers protection against dust and water immersion for up to 30 munites in up to 3.28 feet (1 meter) of water. For a budget smartphone, that is amazing but that is the only spectacular feature you can find on the budget device.
Talking about the specs, Kyocera Hydro Shore features a large 5-inch QHD IPS touchscreen display. The display supports operation of the device even when the screen is wet. The device will be powered by a minion 1.1GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor which Kyocera claims would give customers fast and responsive navigation and access to apps, a claim we seriously doubt.
The Hydro Shore packs a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera. The device boots Android 5.1 Lollipop preinstalled as usual with Google Suite of applications like Google Play Store which gives users access to tons of apps. However, bear in mind that the Hydro Shore crams only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage but it has a microSD slot which makes the on-board memory expandable up to 64GB.
The Android device has a non-removable 2150mAh Li-Ion battery which is programmed to last longer with the inclusion of energy saving features like and offers a host of connectivity options like Eco Mode with MaxiMZR, which extends performance automatically by powering down noncritical functions. The single SIM device offers a host of connectivity options.
The Kyocera Hydro Shore is available for purchase in the US via Walmart and carries a price tag of $80.
