Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) FCC approved, Zauba listing confirms 5.7-inch display

Samsung has already refreshed the Galaxy A series lineup with the 2016 variants and the Galaxy A8 was the only one to get the 2016 variant. The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) was spotted previously at GFXBench and Geekbench. This device has now got the FCC approval in the United States confirming its imminent launch. The FCC listing of this device doesn’t includes any images of the handset but has confirmed some of the specifications that we will discuss in this article.

The FCC approval documents confirms that Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) comes with the model number SM-A810S and connectivity options includes Bluetooth, WiFi IEEE 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and NFC. The device will support FDD-LTE 850 (B5) / 700 (B17) MHz, W-CDMA 1900 (II) / 850 (V) MHz and GSM 1900 MHz mobile networks. No other details we were able to confirm from the FCC listing of the device. The “S” letter in the model number confirms it to be a variant of the device that will be used by SK Telecom in Korea.

The device is also listed at Zauba database confirming a 5.7-inch display that’s similar to the 1st gen Galaxy A8. Zauba listing shows that each unit of the device was priced at INR 13,686 (around $204) which will be different at the time of the launch. No other details about the device were available on the Zauba listing.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) was spotted at GFXBench with specs like a 5.1-inch Full-HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by the Samsung’s own octa-core 2.1GHz Samsung Exynos 7 Octa (4xCortex A53 + 4xCortex A57 – ARMv8 big.LITTLE) processor and ARM Mali-T760 MP8 (octa core) GPU.

It features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage capacity and will support MicroSD card expandable storage capacity as well.  The Galaxy A8 (2016) runs on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box and will support Dual-SIM. It features a 16-megapixel rear LED flash camera with a 5-megapixel front facing camera. The device supports 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS connectivity options.
