New Android update brings Samsung Pay for Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Samsung Galaxy Note5 Samsung Pay update

Last month, Samsung started rolling the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge units in UK followed by India that also installed the Samsung Pay app on the Indian Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units. Now a new update is rolling out to the Galaxy Note 5 units that is bringing in the Samsung Pay app for the device owners pre-installed, however, this isn’t the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy Note 5 users in India. This hints towards the imminent launch of the Samsung Pay service in the country with more phones getting the new update along with the Samsung Pay app soon.

The new update comes with firmware version N920GUBU3BQA3 and weighs around 320MB. The update also brings the January security patch for the Note 5 device in the country as well. The update comes with other usual bug fixes, stability improvements, performance improvements and other changes as well. There are no details available when the Android 7.0 Nougat update will start rolling to the Note 5 devices in the country and globally but we can expect to be available soon.

Because of the demonetization in the country, Samsung Pay might get huge success just like the other payment gateways are gaining in the country. Samsung is expected to launch their new flagships Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge next month and is expected to get the Samsung Pay feature out of the box and we may expect that the company will announce this payment service at the time of the new flagships launch next month. The update along with the Samsung Pay app may soon hit the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users in the country now as the Note 5 has now got it.

The next Samsung flagships Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge are expected to be announced in an official event on march 29. The Galaxy S8 will have two variants with 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD AMOLED displays. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor or a Samsung Exynos processor (region based) and will have 4GB of RAM with 64GB internal storage capacity with MicroSD card expandable storage.

The device will run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box and will feature a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and an 8-megapixel front camera with f/1.7 aperture. The device will have a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and will also feature the Iris scanner that was available with the Galaxy Note7 smartphone. The device will have a 3000mAh battery for the 5.8-inch variant while the 6.2-inch variant will have a larger 3500mAh battery. Just like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the Galaxy S8 will be water resistant and will feature a full metal body.
